Let's Play Together!

The NIP'S Family welcomes and thanks all returning and new teams for coming out and for making our horseshoe league amazing! Our previous seasons have been great fun and very successful and we trust it will be the same moving forward!

We intend to make this in-house league an atmosphere of fun and friendly competition with a bunch of great people! During our horseshoe league(s), we start in the middle of May and go until the beginning of August. For our leagues, we also have a kickoff meeting and an end-of-the-year banquet/ tournament to thank all who were a part of our league.

We are happy to see that our horseshoe league has now grown to Tuesday and Wednesday nights, but we are aware that you are all busy and that the weather isn't always predictable. This is why we will have "off days" for the spring and summer holidays and allow substitutes.

Game Play

You will be playing 5 games a night and playing against 5 different teams a night. During your first game, you will be assigned a pit number on your weekly schedule for the first game only. For games 2-5, you can play at any open pit.

Scoring

There will be scoreboards behind the east end of each pit and each team member on that end is responsible for keeping their score. A ringer is worth 3 points, the closest to the stake within the width of the shoe is 1 point, and a leaner is 1 point. Scoring will be until 21, there is cancellation & must win by 2.

Results, Wins, and Standings

Recording Results

One person from each team must circle the winning team on their respective team's schedule to guarantee the score is submitted and recorded correctly for the integrity of standings. Please know that if not done, each team will be given a loss.

Wins & Losses

Wins & Losses will be documented each week. In case of a league tie at the season's end, the league winner will be determined by a best-of-three playoff game that will be held one week afters season's end, on the respective night, to determine the league winner.

Standings

Standings will be updated each week, provided upon receiving your schedule, and posted in the Pub each week.

FAQ's & Other Information

There will be 12 weeks of league, with 2 additional weeks of league in case of rainouts. If we have more rainouts and they can't be made up, we will reduce the number of weeks by the total number of rainouts less the two make-up weeks. Your weekly fee of weeks not made up will be refunded to you.

You can have a men's team, women's team, or a co-ed team. Teams are 2 person teams. You may have more than 2 people on a team, but only the same two can play on any given night unless an unforeseen emergency happens during league night.

All must be at least 21 years of age.

All leagues start at 6:00 pm for the Entire Season. You have a 10 minute grace period. If not present in that timeframe you forfeit game 1. If you are not there by the start of any games thereafter, you forfeit each subsequent game. (Example: If not there until the beginning of Game 3 you forfeit Games 1 & 2, so on and so forth).

You will get a League Schedule provided to you each week before the start of your league night at NIPs.

Please do not jump ahead on your weekly schedule Meaning, If your Game 2 opponent is not done, but your game 3 opponent is, do not play your Game 3 before your Game 2, etc.

Rain or Shine - It has been agreed upon, by the majority, that you must show up to NIPs on your respective night of play even if it has been raining in your neck of the woods. All league participants will then decide as to whether or not league play will commence that evening. Please do not contact NIPs or the staff, it is up to you if you play or not.

It is your responsibility to obtain a sub if you will be gone for any reason on any given week. It is not the responsibility of anyone in the league or the NIP'S Staff to find a sub.

Any sub to be used must be on the league roster and must be so within the first 5 weeks of the season. Substitutions after week 5 cannot be used if they are not on either of the Leagues.

Those with multiple players on a team can sub with another team in the same night as long as they are not playing their own team.

Names and numbers will be provided on the Master Roster. Players from the other leagues may sub and are considered subs since they are on the master roster. You can also use our Facebook – Horseshoe Group Page, if you are on FB, to get a sub.

Horseshoes and horseshoe pits will be provided by NIP'S.

Season Team Fee $176.00/Team ($88/person) and this includes the registration fee, 12 Weeks of Play, the banquet, and entry into the season-end bracket tournament.

If you have a 3rd player, it will be an extra $59/person.

75% of all weekly fees will go to league payout. Payout is based on a $ value per point times your number of wins. 25% goes to Banquet Tournament. All money is paid out and every team in the Banquet Tournament gets paid.

Your initial league fee you paid at the beginning of the season covers your entry for the end of the season banquet and tournament. Included in this initial payment is a dinner, a bracket tournament, and this is where you will pick up your regular season winnings.

Subs can play in the banquet tournament. Subs will pay $20.00 to play.

Food – We will have catered food some nights. Please feel free to bring food or have delivered anytime you would like.

Carry-Ins Beverages– ARE NOT ALLOWED!!! – If caught carrying in any type of beverage or going to your vehicle to refill your cup in-between games, there is no choice but to disqualify you for the remainder of the season and all league & banquet money will be forfeited.

The contestant pitching first shall deliver both shoes (one at a time) and then the other contestant shall deliver both shoes (one at a time). A contestant may deliver the shoes from either the left or right pitching platform, but in any one inning, both shoes must be delivered from the same platform. A contestant may NOT deliver a shoe from in front or and/or in back of the pit. A contestant shall pitch the entire tournament with the same hand/arm, except in the case of a medical emergency (to be determined by the Tournament/League Officials).

Any shoe that leaves a contestant's hand once the final step (if taken) and final forward swing of the delivery process has started, shall count as a pitched shoe. A shoe that is accidentally dropped by a contestant before the final step (if taken) and final forward swing has started, shall not be considered a foul shoe and may be picked up and pitched.

A foul is considered and the shoe(s) must be removed from the pit before additional shoes are thrown, unless all contestants agree to leave a foul shoe where it is: If the second shoe is thrown from a different position than the first, A shoe contacts the backboard, ground or court frame before it comes to rest does not count and must be removed, Any shoe that is removed from the pit prior to both contestants agreed on the scoring.

A foul shoe is a shoe that is delivered in non-compliance with one of the rules listed below. It scores as a shoe "out of count" (see RULE 3, Section B.3) and is to be removed from the pit (if it appears to be within the scoring area of the stake) before any more shoes are pitched. Note: Live shoes already in the pit area that may be disturbed by a foul shoe (or other live shoes), are not to be removed, unless they are knocked into foul territory and then come to rest in the scoring area.
Live shoes shall be scored "as they lie", after all shoes for the inning have been pitched.

If you have to leave the court for any reason during the game and/or match, you must notify your teammates and opponents. REMEMBER – When it is your turn, be ready to throw! Also please refrain from the use of cell phones so as to stay on track and not disturb your opponent.
